TOM FORD Beyond Sexy….“I want to create the first true luxury brand of the 21st century” TOM FORDDefinitively one of the most influential creative visionaries of the Nineties and 2000s, TOM FORD did not however always intend to work in fashion. He planned to be an actor, then 1986 began studying to become an interior designer. He was named male/female prêt-à-porter designer for the Gucci house in 1990. When the house was purchased by the Investcorp firm, TOM FORD was promoted to artistic director and he relocated to Milan. He then affirmed his style, a superchic, sexy blend referencing the styles of the models of the Fifties, including sexy dresses with metallic details. He contributed to restoring the radiance of Gucci; in 1995, in collaboration with MARIO TESTINO and CARINE ROITFELD (PARIS VOGUE), the unlikely trio launched the highly glamorous trend of SMART PORN, which was followed by the global explosion of GUCCI. Madonna, Kate Moss, and most of all, CARINE ROITFELD adore TOM FORD. In 2000 the Yves Saint Laurent house was purchased by François Pinault (the PR group). TOM FORD became the new artistic director of Yves Saint Laurent Homme, Femme, accessories and licensed products, while declaring that he wished to mark each product with the style of the house. Designer and innovator without equal, Ford controlled marketing, image, and communication, setting up ultra-chic advertising campaigns. In 2000, he was elected best designer. In 2004, he left Gucci & YSL, moving to Los Angeles to dress Charlize Theron for the Oscars in Hollywood. In 2005, TOM FORD founded his own company and created the TOM FORD brand. A collection of beauty products and glasses was launched in 2005 and one very eagerly awaited collection of ready-made clothes for men was presented in spring 2007, at the same time as his first shop opened in New York. With sales outlets all over the world, Ford currently lives between London, Santa Fe and Los Angeles where he has founded a production company, Fade To Black. Several film projects are currently being considered. In June 2008, TOM FORD inaugurated an eponymous shop in Milan, on the occasion of Fashion Week Homme. It is the first shop to open in his name in Europe, with 5 luxury floors built of marble and decorated smartly in velvet, in signature TOM FORD style. TOM FORD EVOKES:
