LA….DALFINA……C’EST MOI……A creative passion for fashion and accessories runs in the Fendi family. It began with her great grandmother Adele and has been passed down to Delfina Delettrez Fendi through her grandmother, Anna, and her mother, Silvia. Delfina, a fourth generation Fendi, was born nineteen years ago in Rome and spent her childhood between the city of her birth and Rio de Janeiro. Her early schooling took place at the French School, after which she studied at the American high school and did three placements in Paris at Chanel's style office for haute couture. Creative stimuli and a taste for beauty have marked and influenced her destiny. Today Delfina expresses her creativity in a fascinating sector she knows inside out: jewellery making. Following in the footsteps of her father, the French jeweller Bernard Delettrez, Delfina is using the five stars and crescent moon logo that Karl Lagerfeld designed for her father during the 1980s. She has attached it to her name for her first collection of jewels, which is presented to the international press on October 2007 at colette, Paris. The collection: Delfina works gold, silver, iron, copper, Tuscan marble from the Massa Carrara basin, Capodimonte ceramics, exotic woods, glass and crystal. She audaciously plays with and combines organic materials, mixing them with precious stones, oversize scaramazza pearls, black diamonds, leather strips or pieces of bone. She uses polished metals, which emphasise and highlight the bright, decisive, powerful, flashy, bold, unusual, fresh and surprisingly coloured varnishes. This first collection, designed and created in her father's workshop in Rome, does not have a specific common theme. It was born out of her symbols; the alphabet of her generation and Delfina's desires, passions, dreams, cultural references, travels and experiences. The pieces that Delfina has put together reflect her strong and determined personality and her story; the passions of her childhood and her adolescence and current maturity. It is gothic, romantic, rock, fresh, passionate, laid-back, playful and sunny; Delfina has created a blend of flowers, skulls, fierce animals, poisonous insects, minisculptures and crosses. It is a collection that resembles her, a universe that is all hers. Asia Argento, an old friend and great admirer of Delfina's creations, took part in the project by directing a movie shown in Paris at colette at the launch of the collection at colette on October, 1st. The collection is made up of more than 200 single pieces. Delfina is also working on a 'gallery' project. It will be located just metres away from Piazza Navona in the heart of Rome, will be named after her and will exhibit her designs. Delfina’s jewelry is already available at Maxfield in Los Angelos, at Podium in Moscow and at colette in Paris.
