Once country, three legendary, glamorous, seductive decades, and three cities that represent the American Dream, luxury, parties, and fashion. Welcome to the high-energy, sequin-fuelled world of the Daniel Swarovski Spring-Summer 2008 collection, where artistic director Nathalie Colin-Roblique would like us to meet Daniel Swarovski’s latest heroine. Ultra sophisticated, this platinum blonde dreams of being a movie star, and dashes from casting, audition to audition. Her dressing room contains a vintage wardrobe, and countless jewellery pieces, bags and delightful accessories from he 1950s that she cherishes deeply. « Everything inspires her : the graphic line of modern, dynamic architecture, the electricity of the bright neon lighting on the streets, the vibrant energy of a cultural capital, and the constant movement of urban traffic. Whether it’s mirrored effects, oversized dimensions, metallic tones, flashy or pastel tints, or every shade of gold imaginable… she plays with everything, embodying the spirit of Andy Warhol or Daniel Hockney, » explains Nathalie Colin-Roblique. The collection is characterised by voluminous creations, constantly moving jewellery, and countless details. Long necklaces, rings and earrings are intentionally oversized, and feature bold, generously proportioned crystals, with colours set against shocking tones dramatic effect.
