Flûte, the luxe New York lounge, is set to open a location in Paris on November 15, 2007. Located at 19 Rue de L’Etoile in the 17th District, it will be steps away from the L’Arc de Triomphe and the teeming Champs d’Elysees. The lounge promises to be le meilleur salon de champagne à Paris targeting chic Parisians, American expats, business travelers and tourists. Boasting over 120 champagnes and sparkling wines, Flûte’s wine menu will stand up to scrutiny in the birthplace of champagne. But Paris will finally be receiving a true New York lounge as well, and the bubbly bounty of Flûte’s extensive list of signature sparkling cocktails. In conjunction with the Paris opening, Flûte Midtown in New York City (205 West 54th Street) iscelebrating its 10 year anniversary. Whether you’re stateside or overseas, join us for a flute at Flûte! Not just for celebrations; champagne can be enjoyed everyday, adding delight and flavor on any occasion. Flûte Paris will be open five nights a week offering an outstanding selection of rare and exceptional vintages, small production boutique champagnes and large format bottles. Noteworthy small producers include Ayala, Pierre Gimonnet, Chartogne Taillet, and Fleury. The lounge will entice aficionados and novices alike. Patrons can explore the champagne list by sampling three champagnes or sparkling wines at a time in a “Magic Flutes” tasting flight or indulge in a bottle of Krug Collection 1979 and 1981, Krug Clos du Mesnil 1992, Dom Perignon 1982, Charles Heidseick Cuvee Charlie 1985, or Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle. Flûte has hired an extremely conversant Sommelier named Lynda Benbacha to assist owner Hervé Rousseau in directing the Paris business. She has a bachelor of business in restaurant and catering from Dauphine University in Paris and has worked for 5-star hotels in Paris such as Hotel Ritz and Atelier Joel Robuchon in London and Paris and the Four Seasons George V. Lynda will be available to patrons for champagne suggestions and to answer questions. Internationally acclaimed architect Alberto Anastasio, was asked to design an intimate and inviting interior to set the mood for the lounge. The décor was created by Flûte owner Hervé Rousseau; with input from his father, noted industrial designer Jean-Pierre Rousseau. It feels like the living room of some debonair millionaire. Guests can enjoy a relaxing retreat, away from the buzzing city outside, while taking pleasure in the percussive report of champagne corks popping.
